Poverty Eradication

According to World Bank 82% of rural households in Africa live in extreme poverty,and they are dependent on traditional farming to earn a living.

By practicing modern farming  and having guranteed markets for the produce many households will be able to sustain and uplift their livelihoods while earning a decent income that can enable them scale in their routine life.
WK Wazalendo is supporting the community through incentives,organizing field days, trainings and seminars aimed at introducing alternative and modern farming methods that can substitute over dependence on traditional farming which is mainly Miraa farming. Miraa farming is currently facing market obstacles hence poor returns and this has tremendously affected families who are solemnly dependent on it.

What We Do

Modern Farming

We promote and encourage farmers in the grassroots to venture into modern farming methods that will entail;
  • Dairy cows
  • Dairy goats
  • Sunflower growing
  • Improved Kienyeji chiken
  • Pig farming

These farming methods are backed by current technologies for maximum production and can guarantee farmers quick and decent income since the markets are readily available while surplus can be consumed within.

Sustainable Agriculture

Sustainable agriculture can be defined in many ways, but ultimately it seeks to sustain farmers, resources and communities by promoting farming practices and methods that are profitable, environmentally sound and good for communities.

We encourage the community on the importance of crop rotation and crop diversity especially growing on-demand traditional crops that are of commercial benefit and good in mainting and enriching the fertility of the soil.

This kind of farming mostly benefits small scale farmers in utilising their small pieces of land while making sound commercial use of it.

Self-Help Groups

Self Help Groups is one easy way of learning how to save and eventualy raise capital for projects.The groups can pull resources and do individual investments or group investments.During this period table banking can be done or savings pulled together and banked in a saving account whereby members can borrow loans.

Other than savings groups get to venture into income generating activities like;
   1.Tree Nurseries
   2.Chicken rearing
   3.Bee keeping

This is one of our key ventures in poverty eradication where young men and women are empowered and encouraged to make a decent income.

Access to Good Markets

By acting as a proxy between the farmer and the consumer we intend to give value to the farmers hence gaining profitability in their produce.This will be achieved through;

  1. Proper market research
  2. Crop timing
  3. On demand growing of produce
  4. Providing quality seeds to farmers
  5. Value addition
All this factors influence the final income that a farmer generates while encouraging more production.
